Arsenal Target Tops Premier League’s Fastest Players, Liverpool Winger Surprisingly Low

Just who is the fastest player in the league this season?

When you think about just who the league’s fastest players might be you imagine the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott and Raheem Sterling – but surprisingly just one of those big name starts tops the table of the fastest recorded running speed this season in the Premier League.

And a surprise name, a key transfer target for the Gunners in January, unbelievably tops the lots of them in stats provided by Daily Mail.

10: Diego Costa, Sergio Aguero, Yun Suk-Young – 34.7 km per hour

Best of the rest but Diego Costa is surprisingly fast for a forward with a reputation as a penalty box poacher.

9: Gabriel Agbonlahor (Aston Villa) – 34.8 km per hour

Agbonlahor has built a reputation on his speed and pitch long sprints though surprisingly has never gotten a big move away from Villa Park.

8: Ross Barkley (Everton) – 34.9 km per hour

The Everton youngster looks to be the future of both the Toffees and England with his incredible abilities, including his impressive bursts of speed.

5=: Raheem Sterling (Liverpool) – 35.0 km per hour

Sterling is surprisingly low on the list for such a powerful winger and a real speedster with the ball at his feet.

5=: Eric Dier (Tottenham Hotspur) – 35.0 km per hour

Hasn’t really featured much since his season opening cameos for Spurs but looks a real prospect and is deceptively quick.

5=: Cristian Gamboa (West Bromwich Albion) – 35.0 km per hour

Only made 10 appearances for the Baggies but he can be safe in the knowledge that he is his side’s fastest player if they need him from the bench.

3=: Marcin Wasilewski (Leicester City) – 35.1 km per hour

Wasilewksi features strangely near the top of the list and ran an impressive 35.1km in Leicester’s 3-2 loss at QPR in November.

3=: Stewart Downing (West Ham United) – 35.1 km per hour

The West Ham man has been a player reborn this season and that has been partly down to his blistering pace on the Hammers interchangeable forward line.

2: Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace) – 35.2 km per hour

Zaha may have lost his place at United but he hasn’t lost his quick feet with the on-loan Crystal Palace using his pace as the basis for his tricky game.

1: Moussa Sissoko (Newcastle United) – 35.3km per hour

And surprisingly it’s Arsenal’s January midfield target topping the lot with Sissoko currently clocked as the fastest player yet this season.

Though the North Londoners are targeting the French international due to his domineering midfield style, his pace from the middle can’t hurt the Gunners stylistic and fluid game.
