The former Tottenham Hotspur man says he and his team mates found Sanogo a handful to play against in last season’s FA Cup final, and that they were excited to hear they were in with a chance of signing the young French striker.

The 21-year-old has also been linked with a loan move to fellow Premier League strugglers Crystal Palace, but Hull manager Steve Bruce has also expressed an interest in signing the player after praising his qualities.

It remains to be seen where Sanogo will end up, but it is thought that Arsene Wenger is keen for him to be playing regularly for a Premier League club to help him gain the experience needed to shine at the top level for his Arsenal side after something of a difficult start in front of goal since he joined the Gunners last season.

I was speaking to a couple of the lads yesterday when we heard the rumour and they were saying he’s a handful,” Huddlestone said.

“He’s an intelligent footballer for one so young. The times I’ve seen him at Arsenal, I think he’s done very well.”

Tigers boss Bruce added: “Sanogo is a very good player. I like him a lot and it may be an option for us – but I don’t think we’re alone in that one.”
