Man City Midfielder Frank Lampard Finally Signs Contract With New York City FC

Lampard will now move to MLS at the end of the season.

Manchester City midfielder Frank Lampard has now actually penned his two-year contract with Major League soccer side New York City FC, report the Mirror, despite the fact that he had been unveiled as a signing for the new expansion franchise in the summer and had been due to join the outfit for the start of the upcoming season.

Lampard was initially reported to have joined City on loan until January once the deal with New York was announced, a deal which would allow him to join up with his new teammates in time for the 2015 MLS season, but it has now transpired that Lampard had, in fact, signed for City for the season in the first place – with the Premier League claiming that no deal was in place with the MLS side.

The former Chelsea and England midfielder has been in fine form for Manuel Pellegrini’s side, with Lampard’s goals crucial to helping them back into a title race with Chelsea that at one point seemed to be slipping away, but he has received criticism in the USA for the way the deal has been conducted.

Lampard will now move to New York at the end of the Premier League season and will feature in Major League Soccer from mid-way through the campaign.
