‘Ball Hog’ Gareth Bale Booed By Real Madrid Fans For Not Passing To Ronaldo

Quite ironic given the amount of times Ronaldo shoots from completely ridiculous positions.

He may have scored a sensational free-kick but Gareth Bale found himself jeered by the Real Madrid supporters and chastised by Cristiano Ronaldo after electing to shoot instead of pass to his Portuguese teammate in their 3-0 win over Espanyol.

The incident follows a similar situation last week when Bale elected to have an attempt on goal instead of squaring a ball to the better placed Ronaldo or Benzema in Real’s 2-1 League defeat to Valencia – their first in 22 matches.

The Spanish media have since taken to calling the Welshman ‘Ball Hog’ (well, the Spanish equivalent) and accuse him of being a selfish player.

The former Tottenham Hotspur man may have already scored a brilliant free kick on Saturday but was booed after shooting past the post from an Isco pass rather than cross to Ronaldo.

Ronaldo incidently didn’t scored in the League in a match he has started at the Bernabeu for the first time since September 2013.

Both Ronaldo and the crowd showed their frustration at Bale but Los Blancos manager, Carlo Ancelotti, tried to play down the issue.

“Later on the fans wanted him to pass to Cristiano but forwards are determined to score when they are through on the goalkeeper. Generosity is very important and if someone is being selfish then we will address it,” he said reports Sunday Times.

“The supporters are very demanding when it comes to the important players and Bale is one of those. We shouldn’t blow this out of proportion. It’s one moment in a football game.”
