Five Reasons Chelsea Could Still Lose The Premier League, Despite Manchester City’s Stutter

The title isn’t at Stamford Bridge yet…

This added to the recent match in which the Sky Blues relinquished a two goal lead to draw with relegation strugglers Burnley has lead to some doubting the Citizens’ title credential. The fact that star player Yaya Toure has gone to the African Cup of Nations also hasn’t helped.

However, here are five reasons why the Stamford Bridge outfit could still lose out on the Premier League title…

Sergio Aguero

In Aguero City have arguably the best player in the Premier League, and before his injury he was the one thing keeping them in contact with the London team. The Argentine came off the bench against Everton, and looked rusty on his return. However, if he can get back to his best then the Sky Blues are likely to go all the way.

Diego Costa

The Blues are very reliant on the Brazilian striker to get them the goals that they need. With him unable to play more than one match a week and prone to suspension this could come back to hurt manager Jose Mourinho in the future.

Complacency

The Blues have shown little sign of it yet, but the danger with such a good team is always that they start to think that have won matches before they actually have. Manchester City showed complacency in their 2-2 draw with Burnley, and Chelsea will have to make sure that they don’t do the same.

Champions League

With the Champions League the one trophy that Mourinho has not won with the Stamford Bridge outfit, he could have some tough decisions come the last few months of the season. Having to seriously compete on two fronts towards the end of the campaign could affect their domestic form.

Tough run in

The London side have to face Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool, and potentially Champions League quarter-finals/semi-finals during the last month and a half of the season. This could prove fatal to their title bid if they are not in top form.
