The north London side have had a mixed campaign so far, with signs of promise often then followed by disappointing results against the lesser sides – none more so than their defeat to Crystal Palace this weekend to follow on from a shock 5-3 win over Premier League leaders Chelsea.

It seems clear that a number of changes are needed at White Hart Lane, with many unused squad players taking up space on the wage bill and not contributing enough to the team overall.

Reports now suggest that these six big names are set for the axe this month:

1) Emmanuel Adebayor

The former Arsenal man, Emmanuel Adebayor has fallen out of favour at Tottenham this season and the club now hope to shift him as soon as possible to make way for better signings upfront.

2) Aaron Lennon

A long-serving member of the Tottenham team, but one who is no longer an essential member of the squad and who simply has to leave as the club look to move on and improve.

3) Paulinho

Signed last summer with so much promise, Paulinho has been highly disappointing for Spurs and the club are now struggling to get rid of him as they seek to improve in midfield this winter.

4) Etienne Capoue

Another of last season’s failed signings, French defensive midfielder Etienne Capoue has been unable to establish himself at White Hart Lane and is now another name set for the chop in this transfer window.

5) Kyle Naughton

Once considered a promising youngster, Kyle Naughton really hasn’t stepped up at Tottenham and is now expected to make way if offers come in for him this month.

6) Younes Kaboul

An experienced and solid defender, but seemingly one Tottenham would consider letting go this January as the likes of Fenerbahce and Besiktas show some interest in snapping him up.
