The club had intended on making the visit to the Aspire training facility and were supposedly set to pocket £1.5m from using the facilities, but their Friday game against Cambridge United has forced this trip to be canceled for the time being.

New BBC scheduling for this season’s FA Cup means there is now a Friday night slot which United will be filling as they meet Cambridge in the fourth round, but it remains to be seen if they will try again to make this visit to Qatar.

Van Gaal is very particular about training and preparation for matches and does not want his players making long distance flights too close to the time of the game as he seeks to ensure the Red Devils progress further in the competition than they have done in recent years.
