According to the Star, City will fund the move for Lyon’s £25m-rated French international by allowing Stevan Jovetic, now a £20m target for Juventus, to move on, while also making Alvaro Negredo’s loan move to Valencia a permanent one, in a £25m deal.

The signings of two of Europe’s hottest properties will undoubtedly give City the deadliest strikeforce in Premier League football. Below, we rank the top ten Premier League sides based on their attacking options. See which teams get closest to rivalling the Champions:

10) Stoke City (Mame Biram Diouf, Peter Crouch, Bojan Krkic, Peter Odemwingie)

Stoke certainly carry more threat going forward since the summer transfer window, with players of the calibre of Diouf and Bojan a step above what the club has been used to in previous years.

9) Tottenham Hotspur (Roberto Soldado, Emmanuel Adebayor, Harry Kane)

Harry Kane’s scintillating form is all that has keep Spurs in this list. Soldado and Adebayor have struggled to score, or even play in the case of the latter, and the club’s needs a new man to support their young starlet.

8) West Ham United (Andy Carroll, Diafra Sakho, Carlton Cole, Enner Valencia)

The Hammers excellent start to the season has been partly down to their much improved collection of strikers. With Carroll now fit and firing alongside new signings Sakho and Valencia, they have plenty to offer.

7) Everton (Romelu Lukaku, Samuel Eto’o, Arouna Kone, Steven Naismith)

Everton spent big on Lukaku in the summer, and the Belgian has yet to score the goals the club will have been hoping for. They’ve struggled for form in the Premier League, and need more from their fringe players.

6) Liverpool (Daniel Sturridge, Mario Balotelli, Rickie Lambert, Fabio Borini)

The Reds have severely missed Sturridge this season, with Balotelli, Lambert and Borini managing just one Premier League goal between them. Raheem Sterling has done well playing through the middle, but this is a team which still hasn’t replaced their star man.

5) Southampton (Shane Long, Jay Rodriguez, Graziano Pelle, Emmanuel Mayuka)

Southampton have been outstanding so far this season, and Rodriguez hasn’t even kicked a ball yet. With the England international still to come back into the side, could the Saints make a stunning bid for the top four?

4) Arsenal (Olivier Giroud, Danny Welbeck, Theo Walcott, Alexis Sanchez)

Alexis Sanchez has been Arsenal’s standout player so far this season, but isn’t a regular up front. Olivier Giroud’s return has been a big boost to the Gunners, while Danny Welbeck has impressed in spells.

3) Chelsea (Diego Costa, Didier Drogba, Loic Remy)

The Blues revamped their strikeforce in the summer, replacing Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba. Costa has been in excellent form, scoring for fun at the start of the season, while Drogba and Remy have also chipped in.

2) Manchester United (Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie, Radamel Falcao)

United’s upturn in form has been matched by the steady improvements of their front three. Rooney, and particularly Van Persie, have started scoring after a slow start, while Falcao has scored a couple of crucial goals.

1) Manchester City (Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko, Wilfried Bony, Stevan Jovetic / Alexandre Lacazette)

Aguero was in fine form ahead of an unfortunate injury, and still leads the scoring charts this season. Dzeko has struggled for form and fitness, but still has a great overall record. A couple of imminent additions could make them potential Champions League contenders.
