Raheem Sterling Holiday: Ten Other Players In Need Of An Enforced Break, Including Arsenal Pair & Man United Starlet

Which player do you wish that your team would send on an extended holiday…

Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling caused controversy this week when it was revealed that he was enjoying an extended winter break. The 20-year-old was putting his feet up in Jamaica on Saturday, rather than playing against Sunderland.

And while the 20-year-old, who has been in fine form this season, and was deserving of a rest after playing 32 matches already this season, here are ten players that need an enforced break for a slightly different reason.

These ten players have struggled this season, and their fans might love to see them depart. Click through below and judge for yourself… it is the January transfer window after all.

10) Mario Balotelli (Liverpool)

His antics off the pitch have landed him in hot water on more than one occasion, while he has simply failed to perform on it. The controversial Italian’s days at Anfield already look numbered, with Sturridge still to come back.

9) Emmanuel Riviere (Newcastle United)

Cost Newcastle £5m in the summer, and arrived with plenty of expectation. However, he’s responded with just two goals in 17 games, and those came in a League Cup tie against Newcastle. Needs to do more, or he’ll be out next summer.

8) Brown Ideye (West Bromwich Albion)

West Brom paid a club record £10m to land the Nigerian in the summer, and the gamble simply hasn’t paid off thus far, with just a two goal return. It will be interesting to see how and when Tony Pulis uses him.

7) Gareth Barry (Everton)

Barry’s decline has been the catalyst of Everton’s poor start to the Premier League season. The former Man City man was excellent last term, but has begun to show signs of age this year, struggling for form throughout.

6) Simon Mignolet (Liverpool)

The Belgian goalkeeper has been hopeless this season, with his mistakes already costing the Reds a fistful of points. His distribution has been poor as well, emphasised by the fact that he was dropped in favour of Brad Jones.

5) Jozy Altidore (Sunderland)

The American striker simply isn’t good enough for the Premier League. He’s been handed plenty of chances, but for whatever reason he hasn’t cut it. He’s scored just one league goal in 18 months, after joining for £6.5m.

4) Roberto Soldado (Tottenham Hotspur)

The Spaniard has managed four goals in all competitions this season, but this was a player that cost Spurs £26m just 18 months ago. He’s still only managed seven league goals in the Premier League, most of which came from the penalty spot.

3) Mathieu Debuchy (Arsenal)

He’s been good when he’s played, but the Frenchman has had absolutely no luck with injuries this season, and maybe he’d do better to put his feet up for the rest of the campaign. He dislocated his shoulder against Stoke on Sunday.

2) Adnan Januzaj (Manchester United)

With United having spent millions on their new look line-up, there is just no place for the young Belgian any more. It’s a shame considering his ability, but rather having him moaning on the sidelines, he’d do better to move on.

1) Wojciech Szczesny (Arsenal)

There are question marks over whether he’ll ever play for the club again. After being ditched in favour of David Ospina for Sunday’s game with Stoke, the Pole – who was recently in the news for smoking in the dressing room – knows his days are numbered.
