Liverpool Roundup: PSG Star Arriving For Just £8m, Balotelli Has Found Life Tough At Anfield And Lovren’s Strange Collection

The biggest stories on Wednesday for the Reds.

Ezequiel Lavezzi in line for £8m Liverpool transfer

Paris Saint-Germain have already identified Benfica’s Nicolas Gaitan as a replacement for Lavezzi as the Argentina international nears a switch to Anfield, according to the Daily Express.

PSG manager Laurent Blanc is keen to reduce the wage bill at the Parc des Princes in order to adhere to Financial Fair Play and with the 29-year-old on around £3.5m-a-year he has been deemed surplus to requirements.

Brendan Rodgers is a known admirer of Lavezzi and with the South American available for just £8m this could prove to be a fine piece of business.

Jon Flanagan ready to fight for his future at the club

It has been a difficult season for the right-back to date as he has failed to make a single appearance since suffering a knee injury back in July.

Flanagan played a big part in the Reds’ finishing second in 2013/14 and as the 22-year-old approaches full fitness he has vowed to fight for his place in Rodgers’ team.

“I know I need to consistently do well if I’m to get in the team and then stay there…I want to keep developing as a footballer. That’s why not being available has been so frustrating,” the England international was quoted by the Mirror.

Life has been tough at Anfield for Mario Balotelli admits Kolo Toure

The defender has spoken out about how hard his teammate has found his return to the Premier League after completing a £16m summer switch from AC Milan.

Balotelli has scored just twice in 22 appearances in all competitions – and none in the league – and Toure has admitted that the Italy international has found things tough.

“Balotelli is a world-class player but of course it has been a tough period for him. I try to help him by talking to him, everyone knows he is a good player. Strikers need to score goals and when they don’t their confidence is affected,” the 33-year-old told Aftonbladet.

Fenway Sports Group will not sell the club insists Ian Ayre

Chief executive Ayre says that despite reports suggesting otherwise, the current American owners of the Merseyside outfit have no interest in selling up.

It was thought that with the redevelopment of the ground FSG would sell the club and also oversee the departure of some more high profile and expensive players.

“Fenway are not going to dispose of the club as they are clearly demonstrating,” Ayre was quoted by the Mirror.

Dejan Lovren reveals his strange collection of Kinder Egg toys

The centre-back – who completed a £20m switch from Southampton over the summer – has taken to Instagram to share with the world his obsession with toys from Kinder Eggs.

Lovren has been in poor form since arriving at the Reds, but always has this odd collection to fall back on when things get tough.
