The MLS owners are hoping to ultimately grow the league to 32 sides.
Next season there will be 20, as Chivas USA folded but New York City and Orlando joined the set-up.

The league is actively looking for new cities, and apart from the new Los Angeles side and Beckham’s Miami side, nothing else has been confirmed.
The list of cities interested in an MLS expansion team is getting bigger though, at least according to MLS Commissioner (and serial liar) Don Garber.
Back in November, representatives from expansion bids in Las Vegas, Sacramento, and Minneapolis visited MLS league headquarters in New York to confirm their interest – and now San Antonio and St Louis have joined the list.
“It’s very positive that we have multiple owners i important markets that want to come into Major League Soccer,” Garber said.
“I’m going to be out in St. Louis in the next couple of weeks. They’ve got a lot of activity going on with a stadium that they’re trying to get done for the [NFL] Rams. There’s a big soccer community out there and we’d love to see a soccer stadium downtown like they’re thinking about a football stadium.
“San Antonio has been very active,” continued Garber. “There’s a lot of stuff going on. There’s a lot of interest in expansion.”
