Everton Set To Get Rid Of Samuel Eto’o Due to Massive Wage Burden

Eto’o has just three Premier League goals so far this season.

Everton are set to allow experienced former Chelsea striker Samuel Eto’o to leave Goodison Park and sign for Serie A side Sampdoria, report the Express, after the Cameroonian became disillusioned with life at the club and the Toffees decided that he wasn’t worth his huge £100,000 per week wage packet.

Eto’o, who has also played for Real Mallorca, Barcelona and Inter Milan during an illustrious career at the top level, only signed for Roberto Martinez’s side in the summer from Stamford Bridge, but he has largely played second fiddle to record signing Romelu Lukaku and has just three Premier League goals to his name so far for the club.

Serie A side Sampdoria, who have defied expectations to put themselves firmly in the mix for a Champions League qualification spot this season, are in advanced negotiations with Eto’o and set to take him back to the league where he was hugely successful under Jose Mourinho at the San Siro.

The report suggests that Everton may dip into the loan market for a replacement, but the return of Arouna Kone from injury could negate the need for a new signing.
