Jose ourinho’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is also the representative of the Red Devils’ pair – and in Mendes’ book ‘The Key to Mendes’, the Blues boss claims he was offered the duo with the ‘super-agent’ needing to find a solution for his clients.
However, the 51 year old insists that he didn’t entertain the idea as, firstly, the players would command too much money and secondly, he wasn’t interested.
“We couldn’t bring Falcao or Di Maria because I didn’t want to, either,” Mourinho was quoted by the Express.
“I can’t have a player earning ten million when others earn three, four or five. That would have caused an explosion.”
The Portuguese was simply uninterested in the two high-earners and, what’s more, merely didn’t want the pair at Stamford Bridge – and, given the West London outfit sit five points clear at the top of the Premier League, Mourinho won’t be rueing a missed chance.
