Manchester United Roundup: Red Devils To Hijack Arsenal Deal, Stalwart To Leave Old Trafford And Former Chelsea Ace Targeted

Friday’s biggest stories for the Red Devils.

Agent of Manchester United’s David de Gea refuses to rule out Real Madrid transfer

So-called super-agent Jorge Mendes has plunged de Gea’s Old Trafford future into further doubt by refusing to rule out a move to Madrid for his client.

The goalkeeper has been heavily linked with Los Blancos as a long-term replacement for captain Iker Casillas and Mendes has not defused those rumours.

“He’s a Man United player and has a contract there. You have to respect that but things change every five minutes,” the Portuguese agent was quoted by Marca.

Red Devils considering hijacking Arsenal’s move for Villarreal defender Gabriel Paulista

The Gunners did look set to land the Brazilian, with manager Arsene Wenger even uncharacteristically talking openly to the media about the transfer.

Yet the Daily Star reports that United are considering an 11th hour bid to trump their Premier League rivals and bring Gabriel to the Theatre of Dreams instead.

However, there are issues with the 24-year-old’s work permit, with the South American having never earned a senior international cap for Brazil.

West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Pulis confirms interest in Darren Fletcher

It looks as if Man United are going to lose their longest serving player as Fletcher edges closer to an exit from the club.

Pulis has spoken openly of his interested in the midfielder, although has admitted that the Baggies face competition from three of four different sides.

“I think Darren Fletcher is talking to three or four other clubs as well. We’ve shown an interest. The lad’s got to sit down and make a decision,” the Welshman was quoted by the Times.

Despite interest from England Kevin de Bruyne is not leaving Wolfsburg

De Bruyne was sold by Chelsea in January 2014 after failing to establish himself at Stamford Bridge and has been in fine form since returning to the Bundesliga.

This has attracted interest from Arsenal and Man United, but the Belgium international’s agent says the attacking midfielder is going nowhere.

“He does not want to move. He’s only concentrating on [getting Wolfsburg] to the Champions League,” Patrick Koster was quoted by the Daily Star.

Javier Hernandez unlikely to make Madrid loan move permanent

The striker known as ‘Chicharito’ left United last summer in search of more first team football, but has managed just 170 minutes since arriving at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

Therefore Los Blancos head coach Carlo Ancelotti is unlikely to take up the option to sign the Mexico international permanently.

Hernandez will return to the Red Devils at the end of the season and then decide on his future, according to the Daily Express.
