‘The Special One’

On his arrival to Stamford Bridge, the Portuguese simply stated: “Please don’t call me arrogant, but I’m European champion and I think I’m a special one”.

Mourinho placed high-expectations on his own shoulders – but certainly delivered.

Laundry Bin Hideaway

In serving a touch-line ban following his behaviour against Barcelona in the Champions League, Chelsea fitness coach Rui Faria was reportedly seen with an ear-piece hidden under a woolly hat to communicate with the banned Blues boss.

Mourinho apparently later hid in the team laundry bin to avoid punishment.

Medal Giveaway

In his first season in charge, the Portuguese led Chelsea to the Premier League title – for the first time since 1954-55, and when the Blues won the title again in his second season in charge, the Blues boss tossed his winning media into the crowd.

Mourinho was handed another one, after the Premier League thought he had thrown it by accident, but he gave that medal away too.

Old Trafford Celebration

Then Porto manager, Mourinho, famously celebrated knocking Manchester United, with a last-gasp equaliser, out of the Champions League by sprinting down the touch-line – well and truly introducing himself to English football.

Anfield Celebration

Mourinho secured his first title with Chelsea in the League Cup in 2005 – and in response to Steven Gerrard’s own-goal, the Blues boss put his finger to his lips to shush the Liverpool fans.

However, the 52 year old claimed the shush was aimed at the English press – not the Reds faithful.

Inter Milan Champions League Title

Jose Mourinho guided Inter Milan to a Champions League title which secured the Italian giants the treble for the season.

It was to be his last game in charge of the Serie A club as he was to sign as manager of Real Madrid.

Knee-slide Celebration

This list wouldn’t be right without a classic knee-slide celebration from the former Real boss.

Mourinho did just that when Real Madrid scored the winner in the last moments of the game against Manchester City in the Champions League.

The Eye Poke

A bad challenge in the El Classico sparked a scuffle amongst both sides in 2011, and Mourinho couldn’t help but get involved by poking Barcelona assistant Tito Vilanova in the eye.

Wenger vs Mourinho

Mourinho and Wenger have had a long-feud since the Portuguese’s arrival in the Premier League football.

The Chelsea boss had this to say about Wenger in 2005: “I think he is one of these people who is a voyeur,”  “He likes to watch other people.

“There are some guys who, when they are at home, have a big telescope to see what happens in other families. He speaks, speaks, speaks about Chelsea.”

The pair have since been involved in other scuffles – including shoving one another last October in Chelsea’s 2-0 victory over Arsenal, as well as Mourinho calling Wenger a “specialist in failure”.

Omelettes and Eggs

Mourinho indulged in some ‘egg-talk’ regarding Chelsea transfers:

“Omelettes, eggs. No eggs, no omelettes. And it depends on the quality of the eggs in the supermarket. They are class one, two or three and some are more expensive than others and some give you better omelettes. When the class one eggs are not available you have a problem.”
