Arsenal Hoping To Complete Bargain Deal For German International Defender

Gunners interested in signing Borussia Dortmund midfielder Kevin Grosskreutz.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is looking to continue what has been a busy January transfer window for the club with the bargain signing of versatile German international Kevin Grosskreutz from Borussia Dortmund, according to reports from the Express.

The Gunners have already completed a deal to sign young midfielder Krystian Bielik from Legia Warsaw this month, whilst a deal for Villarreal central defender Gabriel Paulista also looks imminent.

Wenger is now hoping to build on these deals with a move for Grosskreutz, who the report suggests could be available for as little as £3.7 million, a player who has become known in the Bundesliga for his tenacity and ability to cover a number of positions.

Primarily a right back, Grosskreutz is also comfortable operating on the left hand side of defence or in midfield, and would offer cover across a back line that has been decimated by injuries and suspensions during the course of the season so far.

Struggling at the bottom of the Bundesliga table, Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp seems keen to shuffle his pack ahead of the season restarting this weekend and that could mean a departure for the long-serving Grosskreutz.
