Arsene Wenger is hoping that the trip to France is the last move in securing the deal for the defender, and should make Paulista available for Sunday’s home Premier League match against Aston Villa.

A work-permit was granted on Monday, and the Gunners boss will be eager to get the 24-year-old up and running in the English top tier.

The signing of the Brazilian from Villarreal will be the North Londoners’ second-signing of the transfer window, and could very well be the last of this month.
