The Blues are now said to be confident of acquiring the Colombian star and of announcing a £26.8 million deal with Serie A side Fiorentina on Friday, reports Daily Mirror.

The deal could even be done in time to see the tricky winger line up against Manchester City on Saturday evening.

The report also reveals that it was a personal intervention by Jose Mourinho that sealed the move  – with the Portuguese coach said to have spoke with Cuadrado’s representatives people to ensure them that he was eager for a deal to be completed.

Chelsea are also said to have made it clear they are more than willing to meet his buy out clause.

The move almost confirms that Andre Schurrle’s career in West London is at an end and a deal with Wolfsburg is thought to be on the cards and near completion, according to reports in Germany.

Mourinho has been keen to shake-up his squad in an attempt to ensure they achieve success this season.

And Cuadrado could make an immediate impact against main rivals Man City at the weekend with a potential victory taking Chelsea eight points clear at the top of the Premier League.
