The John Terry and Wayne Bridge scandal
There was great controversy before kick-off when news that John Terry had an affair with former Chelsea team-mate Wayne Bridge’s girlfriend was revealed by the media. Bridge subsequently refused to shake the hand of the captain.
Frank Lampard gave the Blues the lead just before the half-time break, but a stoppage time equaliser in the first-half sent the sides into the dressing-rooms 1-1.
The second-half was one to forget for Chelsea – Carlo Ancelotti’s side had two players sent off and City were ruthless in front of goal to secure a 4-2 victory.
This was the Italian’s first home-defeat of the season.
