Ten Players That The Premier League Must Keep Hold Of, With Liverpool And Man United Stars Attracting Interest From Abroad

Which players can the Premier League not afford to lose if it’s to remain the best in the world…

In recent years the Premier League has lost a number of its star performers – Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Luis Suarez – to La Liga. In recent months, Real Madrid have also been linked with Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling, Chelsea’s Eden Hazard and Manchester United’s David de Gea.

If the Premier League is to maintain its preferred reputation as being the ‘best league in the world’, it cannot allow the divisions best players to continue leaving in such a way. Both Sterling and De Gea are currently locked in contract negotiations and they are just two of the players on our list below.

Here, we countdown ten players the Premier League cannot do without and explain why their are so great to watch:

10) David Silva (Manchester City)

The quiet inspiration behind much of City’s success in recent years. While others have often grabbed the headlines, there are a few better players in the world at the pass and move style City favour. A wonderful talent.

9) Angel di Maria (Manchester United)

Has made a steady start to life at Old Trafford, but has yet to fully show what we know he’s capable of. It would be a pity to lose him before he’d recreated his Champions League form of last season.

8) Yaya Toure (Manchester City)

The driving force behind City’s success in recent years, alongside Silva. He has recently been linked with a move to Italy, but despite an indifferent season thus far he still has bags of ability and would be a miss in England.

7) Cesc Fabregas (Chelsea)

The Spaniard has already been away from the Premier League once and he’s proved this season exactly what we’ve been missing. No one else in the Premier League can control a midfield and provide service to the forward quite like Fabregas.

6) Christian Eriksen (Tottenham Hotspur)

A growing influence in the Tottenham side and one that has continue to improve since his arrival in 2013. His ability suggests he could replace Gareth Bale as the club’s key man, so they can’t make the same mistake again.

5) Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal)

The Chilean has been nothing short of sensational since his move from Barcelona in the summer. Surely it won’t be long before the Spanish sides realise what a mistake the Catalans made. Arsenal must keep hold of him long term.

4) Sergio Aguero (Manchester City)

The Argentine’s finishing ability is second to none and with Suarez gone, he is arguably the deadliest striker the Premier League has. If he can shake off his ongoing injury problems he can easily reach the next level.

3) David de Gea (Manchester United)

The Spanish keeper has been excellent so far this season, winning United countless points and keeping them in with a real chance of making the top four. To lose him to Real Madrid would come as a huge blow, even with Victor Valdes waiting in the wings.

2) Raheem Sterling (Liverpool)

The Golden Boy winner of 2014, Sterling is undoubtedly the most talented young player in world football. The 20-year-old has proved time and again why he deserves to be regarded as Liverpool’s main man and you have to wonder how they’d cope without him.

1) Eden Hazard (Chelsea)

The Belgian is another player on the verge of making that step up into the ‘world class’ group with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and co. Just a touch more consistency and he will be near unstoppable.
