Sir Alex Ferguson signed the young attacker in January 2013 for a fee of £15m and then immediately sent him back to the Eagles for the remainder of that campaign before he was ushered into David Moyes squad last term.

Zaha had made precisely two sub appearances in the Premier League before he was once again loaned out, to Cardiff City, and life under Louis van Gaal didn’t prove any more conducive and he was once again on his way back to Selhurst Park on another temporary deal which seems set to become permanent return to South London.

The 22 year old is expected to complete the move tomorrow and it’s unclear as to how much Crystal Palace will pay though it’s likely to be far less than the £15m outlay made by United.
