Should the world class goalkeeper leave the Premier League side they will surely be in the market for a new stopper. Here are five that they should look at.

5) Sergio Romero, Sampdoria

The Argentinian was in good form at the World Cup, and played under Louis van Gaal at AZ Alkmaar. The Dutchman may want a reunion should De Gea leave, and the 27-year-old would be a solid if not inspiring replacement.

4) Hugo Lloris, Tottenham

One of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League, and if he had a better defence in front of him he may be rated alongside De Gea and Thibaut Courtois as the best. The 28-year-old would be a great signing, and could create a seamless transition from one world class goalie to another.

3) Tim Krul, Newcastle United

Although the Dutchman has been injured recently he is still a reliable stopper, and would provide good competition for Victor Valdes at Old Trafford.

2) Mattia Perin, Genoa

The 22-year-old has already played for Italy and looks set to be one of the best keepers in Europe for the foreseeable future. He could be a reliable number one for a decade, but could probably also cost a lot of what they made on the sale of De Gea to buy.

1) Iker Casillas, Real Madrid

If De Gea moves to the Bernabeu it would in all likelihood mean that the Los Blancos legend was no longer going to be number one. If so he could be open to a move to Old Trafford, and he still good enough to challenge former rival Valdes at the Mancunian side.
