For those of you who have never heard of the guy, here are ten facts about him to get you going…

10) He’s not actually that young

At 21 the player is actually older than current United first teamers Luke Shaw, Adnan Januzaj, and Tyler Blackett.

9) He isn’t good enough for Bolton

Kellett has only made four appearances for Neil Lennon’s side, and is not seen as a regular starter there.

8) But he was good enough for Plymouth Argyle

The 21-year-old went on a one month loan to the South West side, and impressed enough to earn himself another four weeks with the League Two side.

7) And he scored a great goal for them

As you can see from above Kellett’s only competitive goal, he knows where the back of the net is.

6) Man United had unusual competition for his signature

After his successful loan spell, Argyle were attempting to sign the youngster again, however they came up against the 20 time top flight champions. It was probably the first time that they had to compete with such a big club for a player’s signature. They tweeted this after missing out…

5) He is competition for Luke Shaw and Daley Blind

The Englishman plays at left-back, meaning that he is direct competition for the pair. Whether he will get any time in the starting XI is another matter.

4) The Under 21’s will see the most of Kellett

According to the Daily Mirror, the Bolton man was brought in to play in the development squad, as they were short of players following a January clear out.

3) He was a trailblazer at Bolton

The defender was the first player from the academy to make a senior debut at the North West team for eight years.

2) He may have an attitude problem

Former manager Dougie Freedman has said that he needs to improve his off-field attitude. However, he went on to give the full-back his debut after seeing an improvement, so perhaps he’s matured.

1) Lastly, this is how he found out he had signed for United

According to the Bolton News, here is how he found out about the shocking move.

“Sit down Andy,” said Wanderers first team coach Garry Parker. “We’ve got some good news and some bad news.”The full-back decided to hear the bad news first.

“You’re not going back to Plymouth,” was the reply. Steeling himself for the worst, Kellett asked to hear the good news. “You’re going to Manchester United,” Parker said.
