CHOPPED! Eight Manchester United Players LVG Has Cast Out Since THAT 4-0 MK Dons Humiliation

Don’t mess with the fiery Dutchman…

With the confirmation on deadline day that Wilfried Zaha had returned Crystal Palace on a permanent deal perhaps it went slightly under the radar but the winger was the ninth, and counting, player Louis van Gaal has shipped out of Manchester United since that fateful day on August 26th 2014.

But what is so iconic about that day? Well it might have been Louis van Gaal’s worst day as manager of the Red Devils, maybe one of his worst in his history.

Milton Keynes 4-0 Manchester United.

Yes, United’s embarrassing display in the League Cup might have defined the early days of the coach but since then the Dutchman has managed to imprint his vision on his squad and in doing so has given the chop to those he’s deemed not good enough.

And he’s certainly done so without mercy or sentiment.

Here are the nine players who have been sent packing since that nightmarish day:

Ben Amos – Bolton

He was an unused substitute on the night but he too has felt the wrath of van Gaal and has been signed by Bolton Wanderers on an emergency loan.

Wilfried Zaha – Crystal Palace

Sent on loan to Crystal Palace after this match and made that deal permanent on deadline day.

Danny Welbeck – Arsenal

A summer deadline day departure who’s skill and application may not have been called in to question but left when it became apparent he would be displaced by the incoming Radamel Falcao.

Javier Hernandez – Real Madrid

Another late summer departure, rather bizarrely on loan to Real Madrid when he has failed to make an impact and will surely be moved on at his return to United in the summer.

Anderson Silva – Internacional

The club were finally able to find a club for the Brazilian after almost a season of searching but they’ve had to take a hefty loss on the £20m+ they paid for him in 2007.

Giving him away for free in fact, because that’s the only way they could get rid.

Saidy Janko – Bolton Wanderers

Is still highly thought of at Old Trafford and so has been sent on loan to Bolton to firm up his talent and get some much needed game time to develop.

Marnick Vermijl – Sheffield Wednesday

Shipped out before the window closed in February and perhaps the fact he played more games for the reserves and Under-21s than either of the squads shows his appropriate playing level.

Shinji Kagawa – Borussia Dortmund

Never settled at United, even under Sir Alex Ferguson, and promptly returned as a hero to Borussia Dortmund.

Michael Keane – Burnley

Started at centre back on that fateful day. And quite probably never forgiven for the four goals shipped by being sent out permanently to Burnley.
