Cuadrado, who impressed at last summer’s World Cup in Brazil, is the latest in a long-line of top South American stars to move to the English top flight, but where does he fit into the best XI from the continent currently starring in the Premier League?

Check out our picks below:

GK) David Ospina (Arsenal & Colombia)

The Arsenal stopper has only conceded three goals in his six appearances for the club thus far, keeping four clean sheets. He therefore edges out Manchester City number two Willy Caballero in the battle of the keepers.

RB) Pablo Zabaleta (Manchester City & Argentina)

The Argentine full-back is widely considered one of the best players for his position in the world. He comfortably edges out Manchester United’s Rafael for this spot in the team.

LB) Filipe Luis (Chelsea & Brazil)

Chelsea’s summer signing from Atletico Madrid, who was a La Liga winner and Champions League finalist last season, has been battling Cesar Azpilicueta for his spot in the Blues team this term, but has no such issues here.

CB) Martin Demichelis (Manchester City & Argentina)

The Argentine is far from a regular at the Etihad Stadium, but has proved a reliable back-up option over the last 18 months, making him the obvious choice to fill one of the two centre back roles.

CB) Federico Fazio (Tottenham Hotspur & Argentina)

Another summer signing, the former Seville man might have seen red twice this season, but he’s become an integral part of the Spurs side pushing for success on three fronts. He’s played 23 times so far this term.

CM) Oscar (Chelsea & Brazil)

The impressive Brazilian plays in less advanced role here than he does for Chelsea. While the likes of Fernandinho or Lucas Leiva might have been a better option here, we found it impossible to leave out a player of Oscar’s talent.

CM) Philippe Coutinho (Liverpool & Brazil)

Alongside Oscar in the centre of midfield is another young Brazilian who has continued to improve so far this season. Coutinho has been in sparkling form over the last couple of months, inspiring Liverpool’s push up the table.

RW) Juan Cuadrado (Chelsea & Colombia)

Cuadrado scored six goals in 25 games during the first-half of the season with Fiorentina. He will rival another South American, Willian, for his place in the Chelsea side – a rivalry we expect him to get the better of.

LW) Angel di Maria (Manchester United & Argentina)

Manchester United’s record signing has made a steady start to life at Old Trafford, with his run of good form earlier this season slowed by injury problems. However, we’ve backed his undeniable quality to shine through.

AM) Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal & Chile)

The Chilean has been simply sensational so far this season, scoring 18 goals in 32 games. During the first-part of the season, the Gunners looked like a one-man team, while Sanchez has continued to impress throughout Arsenal’s improvement.

ST) Sergio Aguero (Manchester City & Argentina)

The free-scoring Argentine edges out struggling Manchester United star Radamel Falcao for the strikers role. Aguero has scored 19 goals in 27 games so far this season, although he’s failed to net in any of his last five games.
