As if the Premier League hadn’t served up enough entertainment at the weekend, it returns on Tuesday and Wednesday, with all 20 teams in action.

Here’s how we envisage the midweek games going…

Arsenal 4-1 Leicester City

The Gunners will be fuming after their deserved defeat at local rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday. Arsene Wenger’s men will almost certainly take out their anger on Leicester City, who are unlikely to move off the bottom of the table on Tuesday.

Hull City 2-2 Aston Villa

Hull and Villa are two of the Premier League’s worst teams, but both received confidence boosts at the weekend. Villa scored their first league goal in 659 minutes, while Hull gained a very creditable 1-1 draw at Man City. This is a bold prediction, but I can see both sides playing with more freedom that usual and serving up a surprisingly open and entertaining game.

Sunderland 3-0 Queens Park Rangers

Managerless QPR have lost every single one of their away games in the league this season. The Hoops tried to sign Jermain Defoe, before he joined Sunderland last month. I expect the former England striker to show the west London side just what they missed out on by bagging a couple of goals at the Stadium of Light.

Liverpool 3-1 Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs were fantastic on Saturday and they thoroughly deserved their 2-1 win over Arsenal. However, Tottenham’s recent record against Liverpool is abysmal. They have lost their last four contests with the Reds, conceding 15 goals and scoring just two in the process.

Chelsea 2-0 Everton

Everton’s attack is not good enough to hurt Chelsea – the Toffees have only scored two goals in their last five league games. The Merseysiders have a decent defence, but they will not be able to keep Eden Hazard, Oscar and William quiet for 90 minutes.

Manchester United 5-2 Burnley

Burnley will have a go at United, which will play right into Louis van Gaal’s hands. I fancy the Red Devils to win a goal-fest at Old Trafford.

Southampton 2-1 West Ham United

West Ham have only won three league games on the road this season, while Southampton have claimed maximum points in seven of their 12 home matches.

Stoke 1-0 Manchester City

Games between these two are traditionally very tight – there has been just three goals in their last four meetings. Stoke won 1-0 at the Etihad back in August and, with Man City going through a sticky patch of form, the Potters have an excellent chance to secure a rare double over the champions.

Crystal Palace 3-1 Newcastle United

Since Alan Pardew ditched Newcastle for Palace, the Eagles have won five matches in six. Both teams will be fired up for this one, so I reckon there could be a lot of yellow and red cards dished out, which makes the result harder to call, but I’m going to go for the in-form hosts.

West Bromwich Albion 1-1 Swansea City

There have been 10 matches between these two sides since their last draw, but I just can’t see there being a clear winner on Wednesday, so I’m sitting on the fence.
