The 30-year-old is out of contract in 2016 and the Daily Express reports that an extract from his new autobiography – which has yet to be released – reveals that the German is thinking about a move abroad.

The report suggests that the midfielder feels he has achieved everything he can with the Bavarian club with seven Bundesliga titles and one UEFA champions League amongst the mammoth 21 honours he’s won during his time there.

The World Cup winner could therefore be a summer target for long-term suitors Chelsea and Manchester United both of who have reportedly targeted him in the past.

Louis van Gaal, for instance worked with Schweinsteiger during his time as Bayern boss and, says the Express, sees the German as his back-up midfield option if he is unable to capture long-term target Kevin Strootman.

The two Premier League clubs might not have to contend with just each other if they want Schweinsteiger, however, with Paris Saint Germain, Real Madrid and Barcelona all willing to make offers if he did choose to leave.
