A world class performer for Chelsea, Eden Hazard has been electric this season and recently signed a new contract to ward off interest from Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain. If he carries on like this, the Belgian could be one of many Blues players up for the award.
2) Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal)
Arsenal may only be fighting for fourth place, but in Alexis Sanchez they have a world class forward in the same bracket as the likes of Robin van Persie and even Thierry Henry. The Chilean has been majestic since moving to the Emirates Stadium and has been their stand-out performer this term.
3) Diego Costa (Chelsea)
An absolute beast in front of goal, Diego Costa has been superb since signing for Chelsea and looks like being the crucial ingredient to fire Jose Mourinho’s side to the Premier League title.
4) Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur)
Surely the young player of the year, but could Tottenham striking sensation Harry Kane even take the main prize if he continues to single-handedly inspire Spurs like this? The 21-year-old has been a real revelation in the Premier League and looks like having the world at his feet.
5) Sergio Aguero (Manchester City)
Despite some injury problems, Sergio Aguero has been superb for Manchester City whenever he has played, and may yet earn the prize if he can inspire an unlikely title race fightback for Manuel Pellegrini’s men.
6) Cesc Fabregas (Chelsea)
An outsider perhaps, though Cesc Fabregas’ fine form in Chelsea’s midfield this season has been instrumental to their rise, but has he just gone off the boil slightly in recent matches?
