The massive £5.136 billion deal is a huge increase on the current agreement and comes into force in 2016. The extra cash means that not only might the Red Devils be able to hang on to star performer David de Gea, but they could also challenge Los Blancos for their main transfer targets.

The Spanish giants have regularly spent over £50 million on single players over the last few seasons.

Although this may excite some United fans, it does also mean it is unlikely that ticket prices at Old Trafford will be lowered anytime soon. This will be bad news for regular season ticket holders and local fans alike.
