Champions League returns on Tuesday night.

Bayern Munich face Shaktar Donetsk in the final 16 of the Champions League, and after their 8-0 demolishing of sorry Hamburg over the weekend, the Ukrainian outfit could not have picked a worse time to face the Bundesliga giants with their confidence flying-high.

GK – Manuel Neuer

Surely the first name on the Pep Guardiola’s starting XI – the German stopper has been outstanding between the posts.

RB – Rafinha

The defender is struggling with a slight knock, but is likely to make the clash to boost the defence and the attack on the wing.

CB – Mehdi Benatia

Benatia so often makes the job in defence look easy, but will need to be on top-form against Shaktar striker Luiz Adriano, who already has nine goals in the competition.

CB – Jerome Boateng

A flop at Manchester City, the German has become a pivotal figure at the heart of the defence in one of the most successful and exciting teams in Europe.

LB – Juan Bernat

The 21-year-old has adapted to life with the Bundesliga giants expertly in his first season with the club. His quick-feet will cause problems for the Shaktar defence on the flank.

RCM – Xabi Alonso

Alonso missed the 8-0 victory over Hamburg with a hamstring strain, but the Spaniard could return for the first-leg, and would be a huge boost for the Bundesliga giants.

LCM – David Alaba

A bright spark for Bayern, the 22-year-old’s work-rate and creative spark will cause problems for Shaktar.

RW – Arjen Robben

Robben netted a double at the weekend, and doesn’t show any signs of becoming less of a nightmare for defenders at 31-years-old.

AM – Thomas Müller

One of three Bayern players who scored two goals in the 8-0 thrashing of Hamburg, the 25-year-old is a huge threat in front of goal.

LW – Mario Götze

Along with Robben and Muller, Gotze was at the double over the weekend, and will be high in confidence as he begins to cement a key role with the German giants.

ST – Robert Lewandowski

The Poland international has scored twice in the Champions League far, and eight in the league – the striker will be desperate to get on the scoresheet, and is certain to get chances.
