Five Potential Strikers Liverpool May Sign This Summer, If Robert Lewandowski Doesn’t Join

Liverpool have been linked with plenty of strikers recently with the Bayern Munich man becoming the latest…

Former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann has said that he believes Liverpool should go after Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski in the summer, according to Sky Sports.

“At the moment United, Liverpool and even Arsenal… Lewandowski is tailor-made for them,” said Hamann.

“He came to Bayern Munich on a free last year but if there was an opportunity to get him out I’d break the bank for him because I think he’s the best No 9 in the world,” he added.

But if Brendan Rodgers isn’t able to bring the Polish international in, here are five strikers that he may turn his attention to this summer instead:

5) Luiz Adriano (Shakhtar Donetsk)

The Brazilian has been a previous Liverpool target according to the Express and may be one that Rodgers revisits in the summer. Luiz Adriano, who is the Ukrainian club’s all-time leading goalscorer, will be available to sign on a free transfer come the end of the season, due to the Bosman ruling… The striker also became only the second player – after Lionel Messi – to score five goals in one Champions League game. The feat came in this season’s group stage match away to BATE Borisov. He is also the competition’s leading scorer this season with nine goals.

4) Mauro Icardi (Inter Milan)

The Inter Milan striker continues to be linked with a move away from the San Siro as his goalscoring fails to inspire Roberto Mancini’s side into some good form. The Argentinian has scored 13 goals already in Serie A this season putting him just behind Juventus’s Carlos Tevez as the league’s leading scorer. The Daily Star reports that Icardi could well be on his way to the Premier League at the end of the season with a fee of around £32m being discussed.

3) Saido Berahino (West Brom)

The 21-year-old has impressed on the pitch this season with a string of good performances, but off the pitch Berahino seems desperate to force a move away the Hawthorns come the end of the season. Liverpool are one of a number of English teams interested in the West Brom striker according to The Telegraph, and probably face most competition from Tottenham. The England Under-21 striker has scored 16 times in all competitions this season and thus, it may require a bid of around £15m to prise him away.

2) Alexandre Lacazette (Lyon)

The 23-year-old has been in incredible form this season with 21 goals already in Ligue 1, seven more than his nearest rival Andre-Pierre Gignac of Marseille. His blistering start to the season led to interest from both Liverpool and Arsenal as well as a host of top European clubs, but a January move was scuppered by an injury, according to The Daily Star. If injury free, the Frenchman may well complete a potential move away from France in the summer, though his club would like £28m for the player.

1) Danny Ings (Burnley)

If Burnley manage to stay up this season, it will be Danny Ings they will largely have to thank. The 22-year-old has scored nine goals in the Premier League this season – and with a contract due to expire in the summer – it is no surprise that he has been linked with clubs both here and on the continent. Liverpool have been heavily linked with the former Bournemouth striker, with even his own manager Sean Dyche suggesting that Anfield is one of the best places for him, according to The Daily Star. But they may have to pay £6.5m for Ings, if the striker represents England before his contract runs out.
