Okay, we’re getting ahead of ourselves – but you can bet that the La Liga giants are very excited by what they’ve seen so far! Of course, he’s not the only teenager that’s been impressing so far this season – here’s our world class top ten.

10) Marcos Lopes (Lille / Manchester City)

The Portuguese youth team international was loaned out to Lille this season, and has impressed in his 17 appearances – scoring twice from his role as an attacking midfielder. Will he make the grade at the Etihad Stadium? At just 19 he’s still got plenty of time to prove he belongs.

9) Andrija Zivkovic (Partizan Belgrade)

The 18-year-old is already his club’s youngest ever captain and Serbia’s youngest ever player. With 36 league appearances for his club thus far, surely there won’t be many more before the winger gets chance to make his move to a European giant

8) Ryan Gauld (Sporting Lisbon)

The Scottish wonderkid, who made his name at Dundee United, began the season in the Lisbon second team, but worked his way into the first-team picture earlier this year, and scored twice in a cup game – just his second match for his new side.

7) Anthony Martial (AS Monaco)

The 19-year-old joined Monaco from Lille in 2013, and has become a first-team regular so far this season, making 23 appearances in all competitions. The French youth team international could feature against Arsenal in the Champions League later this week.

6) Simone Scuffet (Udinese)

The 18-year-old was recently voted the number one goalkeeper prospect in FutbolSapiens’s top ten feature. He has made 16 league appearances thus far, having established himself as Udienese’s first choice late last year, he now looks set for an incredible future.

5) Jordon Ibe (Liverpool)

The 19-year-old returned from his loan spell with Derby County earlier this year and soon walked into the Liverpool first-team, impressing in the Merseyside Derby draw with Everton. He was then voted man-of-the-match for the Europa League win over Besiktas.

4) Zakaria Bakkali (PSV Eindhoven)

The Belgian international has found himself out of favour so far this season after missing out on a move to Atletico Madrid. The 19-year-old will undoubtedly be eager to get playing again after impressing across 22 games last season, scoring four goals.

3) Alen Halilovic (Barcelona)

The 18-year-old is yet to feature in the club’s first-team, but is making waves with Barcelona B. Already a seven-time Croatian international, he made his name with Dinamo Zagreb before making the switch to Spain in the last summer transfer window.

2) Max Meyer (Schalke)

The 19-year-old has long been a regular in the Schalke team, having played 53 league games and scored nine goals since his first-team debut in 2013. He also won his first international cap for Germany late last year.

1) Martin Odegaard (Real Madrid)

The 16-year-old is the youngest player to feature for Norway and the youngest player to player for any country in a European Championships qualifier. He has started well with Castilla, scoring his first goal in a 4-0 win late last week, and really does look set to become one of the best around.
