Hummels And Strootman In Impressive Manchester United XI For 2015/16 After Another Spending Spree

Manchester United are set for another spending spree this summer.

The money at Old Trafford continues to flow and judging by the continuous revenue from sponsorship and merchandise, Van Gaal can continue his spending spree of last summer.

Despite an influx of stars incorporated into the squad, Man United still find themselves fighting for a Champions League spot which is a bare minimum for the club.

Sustained title challenges is what is expected but the fact of the matter is that the team may not be good enough.

Here is how Loui van Gaal’s Man United side might look should they land their respective targets.

GK) David de Gea

One of the best goal-keepers in the game and sorting his contract is as imperative as any potential star signing would be.

CB) Phil Jones

Sir Alex said he’d turn out to become Man United’s greatest every signing, a bold statement but Jones is the clubs future leader at the back – if he can steer clear of injuries.

CB) Mats Hummels

The Borussia Dortmund skipper will be in demand come the summer with his team struggling in the Bundesliga. Man United’s finances may be too much to turn down and Van Gaal will have his no.1 target.

CB) Marcos Rojo

A summer recruit from Sporting Lisbon, the Argentine defender has done well considering the lack of stability surrounding the club.

DM) Daley Blind

Blind seemed like a panic buy in the summer for Louis van Gaal, a player he knew well but didn’t go for until late in the window. The Dutchman is now integral to the style of play at Old Trafford and a goal scoring threat.

RWB) Paddy McNair

Talk of Dani Alves arriving remains but if Van Gaal is true to sticking to the policy of bringing through youth, then the young defender must be given a chance.

CM) Kevin Strootman

The worst kept secret in town but this summer may finally see an end to the transfer saga which has become quite tedious. Strootman’s severe injury didn’t help matters, but hopefully Roma’s chiefs will stop asking for an astronomical figure and a deal can be done.

CM) Angel di Maria

Britain’s most expensive player has failed to live up to the hype early on but Di Maria is a class act and will no doubt show his worth.

LWB) Luke Shaw

The amount the club invested in the England international seemed vast at the time but considering his potential and inevitable longevity at the top level, the priced seems like a bargain.

CF) Wayne Rooney

The signing of a central midfielder may finally see Rooney take up his usual position alongside the front-man and his period in midfield should become history.

CF) Robert Lewandowski

Rooney’s partner could be former Dortmund man and current Bayern Munich star Lewandowski. Signed on a bosman last summer, the Polish international has struggled to recreate his form for his former club. Guardiola’s style of play may have an effect on that, with the emphasis on keep-ball and a ‘false 9’
