Luis Suarez is back in England as he plays his first match for Barcelona against English opposition since leaving Liverpool in the summer.

Barcelona have almost a full squad available for the last 16 tie against Manchester City, with only defenders Douglas and long-term absentee Thomas Vermaelen missing.

Yaya Toure is suspended for City, but James Milner returns from injury for the Premier League champions.

It’s a direct repeat of last season’s last-16 tie and City will be hoping to do better than the 2-0 l0ss they suffered at home back then.

In terms of domestic form, City couldn’t be happier after a 5-0 demolition of Newcastle saw them take advantage of Chelsea’s slip-up against Burnley and reduce the deficit at the top of the table to five points.

The Catalan club meanwhile head to Manchester in a shroud of ill-feeling after a 1-0 loss to Malaga broke an 11-game win streak in all competition, whilst Gerard Pique and Lionel Messi were pictured at a Barcelona casino just hours after their defeat in La Liga.

Pique insists it is a personal affair whilst Barca boss Luis Enrique refused to comment on it in his pre-match press conference. However, it compounds a feeling at the club that Enrique has lost the trust of his squad.

Whether Barcelona can repeat the result of last year is in major doubt and City will be confident they can finally reach the quarterfinals of Europe’s elite competition.
