20-year-old Januzaj is already known to many through his breakthrough campaign last season, but has struggled to have the same influence this time round. The Belgian has made 16 appearances, but only half of them have been starts. He has neither scored or managed an assist so far.

Meanwhile 19-year-old Pereira is yet to make a senior league appearance for the Red Devils, but is highly rated by people at the club. The midfielder has played for both the Belgian and Brazilian youth sides, and was signed as a youngster from PSV Eindhoven.

Herrera said of the pair: “I didn’t know how good the academy is here. Adnan Januzaj and Andreas Pereira are young players for Manchester United that are going to be very important players for many years.”
