Arsenal fans are not a happy bunch at the moment.

It’s once again called into question the abilty of much-maligned boss Arsene Wenger.

Will he ever be able to win Europe’s top prize? At the moment, it’s hard to imagine him doing so, and here’s why:

1) Can’t Win Against The Biggest Teams

Are Arsenal a big team anyone?

Ten years ago they were playing in the Champions League final, but now they’ve not been past the last 16 for several years.

Their inability to beat the biggest sides is reflected in the Premier League – in the last 3 seasons, Arsenal have won just 3 matches against their top 4 rivals, a run which includes 11 defeats.

2) Acceptance of mediocrity

Arsenal’s seasons are typically the same from one year to the next.

Finish 4th -> win Champions League qualifier -> qualify from Champions League group stage -> lose in the last 16 -> repeat ad nauseam.

Is that success?!

3) Training

Wenger seems to think he is still managing the invincibles.

Wenger’s tactics have hardly changed in the last 15 years. Regardless of the players he has at his disposal he keeps using the same approach to games.

The invincibles or invisibles?

4) Transfers

Years of not signing anyone noteworthy, then splashing out on a string of expensive flops – where has Wenger’s eye for a deal gone?

This is the same man that gave us Henry and Toure!

5) Goalkeeper

Wenger has a severe case of ‘The Fergies’ –  a refusal to buy a top keeper.

Not since David Seaman have Arsenal had a world class stopper. He needs to take a leaf out of Utd’s book and buy an ageing legend. Casillas anyone?
