Four In, Four Out: Arsenal’s Dream Transfer Window, With £50m Star Replacing Ozil & Free Agent In Defence

Four players who could leave and four replacements for Arsenal this summer.

Arsenal could be set to make some big changes to their squad in the summer transfer window, with Arsene Wenger’s side looking clearly short in their midweek Champions League defeat to AS Monaco.

Many current first-teamers came in for criticism after that defeat, and Arsenal have been linked with several big-name solutions to these issues, with the club’s dream transfer window perhaps looking something like this:

Out – Olivier Giroud

Simply awful against Monaco, Olivier Giroud’s time at Arsenal may be up as he doesn’t look like the right class of striker to fire the club to glory in the big games.

In – Jackson Martinez

Available for around £25-30m, Jackson Martinez looks a superb target after impressing with Porto, and has been strongly linked with the Gunners several times.

Out – Mesut Ozil

Another ineffective performer for Arsenal in the Monaco game, Mesut Ozil simply hasn’t done enough to justify his £42.5m fee since joining from Real Madrid, and has been linked occasionally with Bayern Munich.

In – Marco Reus

An ideal replacement in that number ten role, Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus has been linked several times with Arsenal, though he would likely cost around £50m.

Out – Per Mertesacker

Past his best, Per Mertesacker put in an unacceptable display in the Champions League this week and urgently needs shifting out of the club.

In – Winston Reid

A player in fine form for West Ham United this season, Winston Reid can leave on a free in the summer and would be a big improvement for Arsenal in defence, with Arsene Wenger a known admirer.

Out – Mikel Arteta

Injury prone and past his best, Mikel Arteta does not look good enough for Arsenal in midfield these days, and is another player the club should strongly consider letting go at the end of this season.

In – Morgan Schneiderlin

One of the top midfielders in the Premier League this season, Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin may already have an agreement in place to join Arsenal this summer and would be an ideal signing if these reports are to be believed.
