1) Angel Di Maria

Taken off at half time in the win over Sunderland, Manchester United’s record signing Angel Di Maria continues to toil in a red shirt, and manager Louis van Gaal rubbed salt in the wound by saying his team were better when the Argentine was taken off!

2) Southampton

With just one win in five games and a second defeat on the bounce, Southampton’s top four hopes are slipping away right before their eyes. This time, Ronald Koeman’s side were beaten 1-0 by relegation strugglers West Bromwich Albion, which could allow Liverpool to move above them this weekend, while Arsenal could also go five points ahead of them.

3) Tim Sherwood

The outspoken and overconfident Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood is getting a real test of his mettle now as his new club suffered a second defeat on the spin since he took over. That makes it seven consecutive losses for Villa, who sit in 19th place in the table and may now be beyond survival after a dreadful season.

4) West Ham

Like Southampton, West Ham United are another team having to face reality after an awful run of form to follow such a promising start to the season. Sam Allardyce’s side are now down in 9th and have won just one of their last ten games, with a 3-1 home defeat to Crystal Palace simply not good enough for a team with European aspirations.

5) Roger East

Oh dear, the referee taking charge of Manchester United v Sunderland will be embarrassed after opting to send off Wes Brown at Old Trafford, when it was his team-mate John O’Shea who’d committed the foul that led to United’s first goal from the penalty spot. Refereeing standards seem to be slipping all the time, and Roger East is the latest to provide us all with a memorable calamity!
