Imagine running a football club at 23!
Earlier this week, 23-year-old David Sharpe (above right) became the new chairman of Wigan Athletic, taking over from grandfather Dave Whelan (left).

Sharpe is one of the youngest people to be in such a high position at a professional football club.

Darren Brown
Brown was just 29 in 2000 when he added Chesterfield to a sports portfolio which also included two ice-hockey teams. He didn’t stick around for long though and he was sent to prison for fraud five years later.
Karren Brady
Now best known for her vice-chairman role at West Ham, as well as her appearances on The Apprentice, Brady actually entered the football game as a 23-year-old, becoming managing director at Birmingham City.
Simon Jordan
Jordan became the youngest Football League chairman in 2000, when he took over Crystal Palace aged just 32.
Carolyn Radford
In 2011, Carolyn, who has a strong background in fashion, jumped out of her comfort zone to become chief executive at Mansfield Town. She later married chairman John Radford, with whom she helped take the Stags into the Football League.
