Man City transfer news

1) Vincent Kompany (Manchester City)

After being dropped for Manchester City’s game against Leicester City in midweek, club captain Vincent Kompany is the latest big name to find himself benched for poor form, following two awful performances against Barcelona and Liverpool.

2) Steven Gerrard (Liverpool)

A player clearly past his best, Steven Gerrard has found himself increasingly out of Liverpool’s first-team picture after being dropped by Brendan Rodgers earlier in the season.

3) Radamel Falcao (Manchester United)

Off-form since joining Manchester United on loan from AS Monaco, Radamel Falcao has found himself in and out of the team this season, and was once even axed from Louis van Gaal’s squad altogether for the game against Southampton, failing to even make the bench.

4) Wojciech Szczesny (Arsenal)

Normally Arsenal’s number one, Wojciech Szczesny has found himself on the bench for recent games after a poor display away to Southampton, followed up by being found smoking in the changing rooms afterwards.

5) Per Mertesacker (Arsenal)

Another big name at Arsenal, Per Mertesacker was benched for his AS Monaco horror-show, missing the weekend Premier League game against Everton.

6) Petr Cech (Chelsea)

One of the big decisions of the season, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho benched Petr Cech at the start of the campaign after making the difficult choice to promote promising youngster Thibaut Courtois to number one at Stamford Bridge.

7) Simon Mignolet (Liverpool)

After an awful start to the season, Simon Mignolet was dropped by Liverpool for the game at Manchester United. Luckily for him, Brad Jones did poorly in his place, and the Belgian has impressed since returning to the starting lineup.

8) Gary Cahill (Chelsea)

After a poor game in the 5-3 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, Gary Cahill found himself out of the Chelsea team for a few matches, but has returned to form now and is surely one of the first names on the team sheet again.

9) Gerard Pique (Barcelona)

Another player who has responded to being dropped, Gerard Pique’s poor start to the season saw him lose his place, but he has looked back to his best since being re-introduced into the team by Luis Enrique.
