The Premier League giants have employed the popular Carneiro for many years, but according to the Daily Mirror, recent footage shows fans making such sexist pleas as: “Get your t**s out for the lads.” One fan also yelled: “Show us where you p**s from, you s**g, show us your m***e.”

With football still battling against racism, homophobia, and many other forms of prejudice, the last thing it needs is fans who could not have been less appropriate if they were yelling down from the top of scaffolding, or sidling into a woman in a bar having had a bit too much to drink.

Women have done a lot within the game that we love, and should be respected for it. In the list below, we could down ten of most famous figures from the last decade…

10) Eva Carneiro

The long-standing Chelsea physio has been an integral part of their success in recent years, keeping the club’s star players fit and healthy. You’d much rather have her running across the pitch to help you than any of the idiots mocking her.

9) Delia Smith

The veteran shareholder of Norwich City has well and truly proved her love for the Championship side over the years, and she’s just as committed to the Canaries as any of their most ardent fans. She’s had her moments of controversy, but deserves to be respected.

8) Karren Brady

The former managing director of Birmingham City and the current vice-chairman of West Ham United, Brady has helped guide both Premier League clubs over the last decade, alongside David Gold and David Sullivan.

7) Hope Powell

Powell spent 15 years as the manager of the England national team, and also coached the Great Britain Olympic squad in 2012. Before her departure in 2013, Powell led the team to an unprecedented level of success, clearing the way for women’s football.

6) Hope Solo

The experienced American goalkeeper is not only a fantastic footballer, she’s also immensely popular. The 33-year-old participated in TV series Dancing with the Stars, and posed for various magazines – including ‘The Body Issue’, which is produced by ESPN.

5) Faye White

The former England and Arsenal captain is one of the best female footballers England have produced. She won 31 major honours during her time with the Gunners, and was also voted the top flight’s player of the year in 1998.

4) Milene Domingues

The former Brazilian international has now retired from football to focus on her modelling career. However, before she gave up the game, she had a huge impact upon it, setting the record for ball juggling after 55,198 touches.

3) Ma Xiaoxu

Dubbed as China’s answer to Wayne Rooney, Ma Xiaoxu has enjoyed a brilliant start to her football career. Still only 27, she could become one of the best ever.

2) Mia Hamm

The former American international is her nation’s record scorer – and that’s including the men’s team. She scored a truly incredible 158 goals in 275 games during 17 years with the team, before calling it a day back in 2004.

1) Marta

The one woman that might beat that tally is the Brazilian star Marta, who is still just 29. She has scored 86 goals in her first 76 games for Brazil, and continues to be a success wherever she goes.
