French daily newspaper Le Parisien claims that Blanc could leave the Ligue 1 champions at the end of this season – before his contract expires in June 2016 – and Man United could come knocking again.

The 49-year-old, who played at Old Trafford for two seasons, was on the shortlist to replace David Moyes last term.

As a former Manchester United player, Blanc would be rewarded with instant respect from the supporters and the squad.

With reports of a rift between van Gaal and Man United assistant manager Ryan Giggs, the Premier League giants could be growing frustrated with their new manager after just a term in charge – particularly if they miss out on Champions League football again next season.
