Arsenal Hope To Lure Out-Of-favour Chelsea Keeper In £10m Transfer Bid

Arsenal hope to sign stopper from London rivals this summer.

Petr Cech is certain to leave Chelsea this summer. Earlier in the campaign it appeared as though Liverpool would be his destination, but now it seems Arsenal have moved into pole position.

The Daily Mail report that Mourinho is willing to sell Cech but only for big money, with the Chelsea boss claiming he’s one of the top three keepers in the world.

If Arsenal can secure him for £1o million it would be a major coup. Regardless of whether you agree with Mourinho’s assessment that Cech is in the top three, he is certainly amongst the best, and at 33 years old still has 6-7 years at the top level ahead of him.

The value is brought into sharper focus when you consider Liverpool paid £9 million for Simon Mignolet, who until recently had looked certain to leave in the summer.

Currently, the three most expensive goalkeepers in the world are Gianluigi Buffon (£32.6 million), Manuel Neuer (£19 million) and David De Gea (£18 million), but all three were under 25 when they moved.
