The two players are both out of contract in the summer but Leicester’s hierarchy want to make sure they are secured for next season, especially after last years debacle when the club’s promotion push almost fell apart due to ten players being out of contract in the final weeks of the campaign.

Boss Nigel Pearson is quoted as saying “Those issues are being addressed now. Talks are taking place, I believe. It is always a case of us trying to protect our assets. We had to deal with a difficult situation last year in a different set of circumstances, but those contractual issues are ongoing, for sure”.

Leicester have a vital bottom-of-the-table clash with Hull at the weekend, a game in which long-term absentee Kasper Schmeichel is expected to return.
