Ten Premier League relegation candidates who would fit any club, including Liverpool & Man United targets

The Premier League relegation battle is hotting up, with a number of teams in danger of the drop. The current bottom three are last year’s promoted trio of Queens Park Rangers, Burnley and Leicester City, while Aston Villa and Sunderland sit just above the dotted line.

Despite the difficulties for the teams mentioned, there are still plenty of players among those quintets of squad with something to offer any Premier League side.

In the list below, we’ve counted down the ten players we think will be guaranteed to keep their place in the top flight for next season, regardless of whether it means they have to move club:

10) George Boyd (Burnley)

The hard-working and versatile midfielder has been an integral part of Burnley’s survival bid so far this season. He wasn’t able to establish himself in the Hull City side last season, but has rarely missed out under Sean Dyche.

9) Kasper Schmeichel (Leicester City)

The absence of the Danish goalkeeper has been a big miss for the Foxes so far this season. Since picking up an injury several months ago, Schmeichel has seen his teammates struggle for points, despite the experienced Mark Schwarzer between the sticks.

8) Steven Caulker (Queens Park Rangers)

The England international is on the verge of being relegated for the second successive season, having also gone down with Cardiff City last season. However, the former Tottenham man should have impressed enough to earn himself another move.

7) Adam Johnson (Sunderland)

Another England international, the winger might not have the best of reputations, but there is little doubting his ability on the football pitch. While he was rarely given a chance at Manchester City, his record was decent, and he’s maintained that this term.

6) Sandro (Queens Park Rangers)

Another former Tottenham man, the defensive midfielder has so much more to offer than he’s show this season. If he can get his attitude right, his head down and his mind ready to work, then he could make an excellent signing.

5) Christian Benteke (Aston Villa)

He might have only scored three goals so far this season, but the Belgian centre forward – still on the way back from a long-term injury – is so much better than his recent form would have you believe. Any Premier League team would be foolish not to gamble on him.

4) Leroy Fer (Queens Park Rangers)

The Dutch international was a World Cup semi-finalist last summer, but like Caulker he’s on the verge of going down for a second season in a row, having also been relegated with Norwich City during his previous campaign. He deserves more.

3) Danny Ings (Burnley)

The England hopeful has bagged nine goals for his struggling side so far this season. His form attracted interest from Liverpool during the January transfer window, while Manchester United, Manchester City and even Premier League leaders Chelsea have also been linked.

2) Fabian Delph (Aston Villa)

The centre -midfielder established himself as a regular in Roy Hodgson’s England squad late last year, while he’s already become an integral player for Villa boss Tim Sherwood. Liverpool are known admirers, despite him recently signing a new contract.

1) Charlie Austin (Queens Park Rangers)

The 25-year-old has smashed in 14 Premier League goals so far this season, despite Rangers struggles towards the foot of the Premier League. He’s already bagged 31 in 54 games for the club since his arrival in the summer of 2013, and deserves to be playing in the top flight.
