GK – Marc-Andre ter Stegen

The young German was unfortunate not to leave the Etihad Stadium with a clean-sheet, as he puts in a claim for the no.1 spot.

RB – Dani Alves

The right-back was fuming after being substituted in the first-leg, throwing a tantrum as he left the pitch, but the Brazilian remains pivotal for his side going forward.

RCB – Gerard Pique

The Spaniard’s experience, and reading of the game, is vital in the back-line.

LCB – Marc Bartra

The 24-year-old has been a bit-part player for Barca, however continues to impress when called upon, and is likely to replace Mascherano, who was disappointing in the first-leg, alongside Pique.

LB – Jordi Alba

Like Alves, the left-back is a huge attacking threat, with his pace a nightmare for the opposition.

RCM – Ivan Rakitic

The Croatian has pushed Xavi out of the side, becoming an integral player in the Barcelona midfield, since arriving from Sevilla in the summer.

CM – Javier Mascherano

Poor in defence in the first-leg, as he struggled to cope with City striker Sergio Aguero – likely to be pushed forward into midfield with Sergio Busquets injured.

LCM – Andres Iniesta

The Spaniard remains key in a classy Barca midfield, even with just three assists this season.

RW – Lionel Messi

The magician has an incredible 43 goals in 39 games so far this term, but suffers in goalscoring form against English opposition, and after having his last minute penalty saved by City stopper Joe Hart, he should be even more eager to get on the scoresheet.

ST – Luis Suarez

The Uruguayan returned to a Premier League stadium for the first time since his exit from Anfield, and looked at ease against familiar opponents, as he netted both goals in the first-leg.

LW – Neymar

The 23-year-old’s stunning talent is key in the Spanish giants’ formidable attacking trio.
