GK – Joe Hart (Manchester City)
The England number one saved a penalty in the first meeting and was fantastic in the second as City crashed out at the hands of Barcelona, so good in fact that Lionel Messi labelled him a ‘phenomenon’.
RB – Dani Alves (Barcelona)
Solid performance from the Brazilian in both games.
CB – Leonardo Bonucci (Juventus)
Italian centre half was immense as the Serie A leaders won 3-0 in Germany against Borussia Dortmund to go into the hat for the quarters.
CB – Aymen Abdennour (AS Monaco)
The Tunisian was a rock in the first game at the Emirates and made a crucial block in the return leg just before half-time as the Ligue 1 outfit progressed.
LB – Nacho Monreal (Arsenal)
Replaced Kieran Gibbs for the second leg and played a huge part in both goals as Arsenal came close to pulling off a memorable comeback.
MC – Marco Verratti (Paris Saint Germain)
The young Italian turned in a magnificent performance in the second leg against Chelsea as Paris Saint Germain knocked out the Premier League leaders on away goals.
MC – Santi Cazorla (Arsenal)
Man-of-the-match against Monaco, had 145 touches of the ball, the most by a player for an English side in the competition since 2009.
MC – Hector Herrera (Porto)
The Mexican is in excellent form as of late, scored a terrific goal in Porto’s 4-0 thrashing of Basel.
AMR – Lionel Messi (Barcelona)
The Argentine was mesmerising at times over both legs, played a part in all three goals and would have got on the score-sheet if it wasn’t for the heroics of Hart.
ST – Carlos Tevez (Juventus)
Struck three goals over the two games as Juve progressed in to the quarter-finals.
AML – Max Meyer (Schalke)
The young German was a constant threat as Schalke came within a whisker of knocking out the defending champions.
