Arsenal rumours

1) Andros Townsend (Tottenham Hotspur)

A surprise selection, Andros Townsend has not been a regular for Tottenham this season and really hasn’t done enough to warrant a look-in at all.

2) Kyle Walker (Tottenham Hotspur)

Out of favour with England for some time, Kyle Walker’s recent performances have done little to persuade fans he is England quality at the moment.

3) Phil Jones (Manchester United)

A player struggling to reach his potential, Phil Jones has been inconsistent for Manchester United and is another not really worthy of a place.

4) Danny Welbeck (Arsenal)

Despite a decent scoring record for England, Danny Welbeck has been extremely hit and miss for Arsenal this season and is a risky choice upfront.

5) Leighton Baines (Everton)

A player getting on a bit and not having his best season with Everton by any stretch of the imagination, Leighton Baines is perhaps fortunate to still get a look in.

6) Luke Shaw (Manchester United)

A young player who still doesn’t look ready for the big time with either Manchester United or England, Luke Shaw is another very questionable choice by Roy Hodgson.

7) Theo Walcott (Arsenal)

Out injured for most of the season and largely not involved in the Arsenal starting lineup, it’s unclear why Theo Walcott is still seemingly guaranteed an England place.

8) Chris Smalling (Manchester United)

Is Chris Smalling really the best England can do at the back? Another unconvincing call-up from a player perhaps benefitting from playing for a big club.
