England manger Roy Hodgson has named his squad for the upcoming fixtures against Lithuania and Italy.

Here’s how we think the team should line-up against Lithuania next Friday at Wembley based on current form.

GK) Joe Hart

After his heroic display at the Nou Camp, the Manchester City number one just should remain between the posts ahead of Fraser Forster, who has been very impressive of late too.

RB) Nathaniel Clyne

Still producing consistent performances week in, week out for the Saints.

CB) Gary Cahill

Just edges out Phil Jagielka on current form.

CB) Chris Smalling

Currently first choice at United and has been part of a defence that has kept three successive clean sheets in the league.

LB) Kieran Gibbs

Currently locked in a battle with Nacho Monreal for the left-back slot at club level but is in better form than Leighton Baines and Luke Shaw.

Sticking with the diamond formation that Hodgson has gone for in recent games..

DM) Michael Carrick

With Jack Wilshere unavailable, the position at the base of the diamond is perfectly suited for the experienced midfielder. Scored one and created another for Man United in the win against Tottenham last Sunday.

MC) Jordan Henderson

Perhaps the first name on the team-sheet given his impressive form at the moment, goals in each of his previous three league games for Liverpool.

MC) Fabian Delph

Revitalised under new manager Tim Sherwood at Aston Villa, has played a big part in their recent upturn in form.

Should slot in alongside Henderson in a two just ahead of Carrick.

AMC) Raheem Sterling

Major threat playing just behind the front two.

ST) Harry Kane

Big calls for the Tottenham striker to be involved in the squad and with 26 goals to his name this season, it’s a given that he starts against Lithuania.

ST) Wayne Rooney

England captain has scored four in four since ditching his role as a centre-midfielder and looks backs to his best.
