Liverpool Premier League title winners 2016/17: AMAZING XI that could see Brendan Rodgers lead Reds back to the top

Brendan Rodgers came so close last season to guiding Liverpool to their first Premier League title, but was unable to see them across the line. However, there is a crop of exciting talent coming through at Anfield, and money seems to be available to spend, meaning that within a couple of years, we could see the Reds back fighting for, and potentially winning the top flight of English football once again.

Here is an eleven that may just bring the glory back to Merseyside:

GK- Neto

The keeper has been impressive with Fiorentina this season in Serie A, and has been linked with a move to Anfield. He may just offer the reliability at the back that Simon Mignolet doesn’t.

CB- Emre Can

Can has done well in his first season, and seems to have adapted quickly to playing as part of a back three. At just 21, he could still get better.

CB- Martin Skrtel

The Slovakian will be reaching the twilight of his career by 2016/17, but that experience will be vital as the pressure of a title push takes hold.

CB- Raphael Varane

The Real Madrid centre-back may be the perfect addition to complete the back three. He seems less than happy in Spain, and is reportedly keen on a move to the Premier League. But it would require a large fee to sign the French international.

RM- Jordon Ibe

Ibe has been exciting since he came into Liverpool’s first team. If he can reach his potential, then he could be a nightmare for Premier League full-backs in the future.

CM- Jordan Henderson

By 2016/17, Henderson will be the captain, and Rodgers would be an idiot not to build the team around him. He has excelled in his short time as leader while Steven Gerrard has been injured, and there’s no reason why that can’t continue in the future.

CM- Lewis Cook

Liverpool’s scouts have reportedly been to Elland Road recently to watch Alex Mowatt, but it is Lewis Cook that is really exciting the Leeds fans. The 18-year-old’s passing is starting to resemble that of Steven Gerrard’s, and may be the ideal long-term replacement for the outgoing hero.

LM- Raheem Sterling

This may be a slightly more unfamiliar position for the England international, given his success as part of a front three. However, it is essential that he is kept at the club with rumours circulating that a new contract has yet to be agreed. He has the ability to win games on his own.

ST- Divock Origi

If the Belgian can come in with the form he showed in the World Cup last year, or in his most recent game for Lille, where he bagged a hat-trick, then he will really add something to the team. His pace and trickery are his main skills.

ST- Philippe Coutinho

The Brazilian has been one of the players of the season across the entire Premier League. His recent goals against Southampton and Manchester City have demonstrated that the midfielder has the ability to play as a striker.

ST- Jerome Sinclair

Sinclair has been sent out on loan with Championship side Wigan in their battle to beat the drop. The first-team experience will be crucial to his development, and he will be looking to prove why he’s so highly rated at Anfield.
